Jos — Gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram members, weekend, attacked Shonong village in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing four people, including two members of the state-owned security outfit, Operation Rainbow. Niloofar Rahmani, a 23 year old Afghanistan woman is the first female pilot to serve in her country’s airforce since the fall of the Taliban in 2001. And while for many, this might be a ‘kini big deal?’ story, try being a woman in Afghanistan. Rahmani’s decision to be an unconventional woman by becoming a pilot earned her death threats from the Taliban and even members of her own family! She was 18 when she heard an announcement that the Afghan Air Force was recruiting pilots, and according to Rahmani, being a pilot has been her dream since she was a little girl. After studying English for a year, she enlisted in the Afghan Air Force Officer Training Program in 2010 and graduated as a Second Lieutenant in July 2012. Fulani gunmen kill 30 in Benue, Nasarawa APRIL 26, 2015 : Suspected Fulani gunmen on Saturday evening and Sunday morning attacked and killed 30 persons, mostly women and children, in Guma, Kwande, Buruku and Keana Local Government Areas of Benue and Nasarawa states. The PUNCH gathered that the villages attacked in Guma LGA are Tse-Uosu, Tse-Gbudu Taraka and Branch Umenger in Mbadwem council. In Keana, the invaders attacked Iornungun while in Kwande, the gunmen invaded Jato/Aka and environs just as many residents of Mbatie, Mbatsease and Mbaatungu Aji, all in Buruku LGA, were displaced by the armed herdsmen. Russian hackers who gained access to the White House computer system last year were able to read President Obama's unclassified emails, the New York Times has reported. It said the breach was far more intrusive than previously admitted. Officials have conceded that sensitive information was in the unclassified system the hackers accessed. The discovery of the hacking in October led to a partial shutdown of the White House email system. Highly secure "The hackers, who also got deeply into the State Department's unclassified system, do not appear to have penetrated closely guarded servers that control the message traffic from Mr Obama's BlackBerry, which he or an aide carries constantly," the New York Times said. "But they obtained access to the email archives of people inside the White House, and perhaps some outside, with whom Mr Obama regularly communicated. The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kogi state, Alhaji Halilu Pai has confirmed that election materials for Ajaokuta Constituency in the rerun election held on saturday last week were diverted which led to violence in the area. Pai who confirmed to journalists on sunday, said officials of the commission involved in the incident have been arrested and are currently being investigated by security agencies. Seven persons including a taxi driver and his passengers died this afternoon after an uncompleted pedestrian bridge at Dorayi quarters in Kano state collapsed on them at about 4.45pm today April 26th. According to reports, construction workers had warned the taxi driver and pedestrians not to pass under the bridge as it was still under construction but they ignored the warning and as soon as the taxi driver drove under the bridge, it caved, crumbling on the taxi killing the driver, its passengers and other pedestrians. A Zimbabwean woman who was recently found beheaded in Johannesburg was "cut into six pieces," a relative has told the media. Gauteng police have said that they do not think that Naume Garusa, 41, was a victim of xenophobic violence. Garusa's body was found in Killarney on April 14. She was buried in her home near Chiredzi in southern Zimbabwe this week, the Herald reported at the weekend. Her sister, Nyembezi Garusa said: "I am still shocked. I was the first to see my sister's remains at the mortuary. Her body was cut into six pieces. I think the assailants used a machete to cut off the head, both arms and limbs." The victim's brother Richard Garusa told the Herald he believed it was a premeditated attack.
